Growing up in a farming community in British Columbia's Lower Mainland, I developed a love and appreciation for animals from an early age. That passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University in 1996 before continuing my veterinary education at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan.
After graduating in 2000, I made Vancouver Island my home, settling in Nanaimo, where I've been fortunate to build my career and become part of this wonderful community. My veterinary journey has taken me in many exciting directions. After several years in traditional companion animal practice, I followed a unique opportunity to specialize in wildlife medicine, with a focus on aquatic animals. Spending more than a decade caring for marine and aquatic species was an incredibly rewarding chapter of my career. Eventually, I realized how much I missed the relationships I built with pets, their families, and the variety of general practice, so I happily returned to companion animal medicine.
Throughout my career, I've been passionate about preventative care and helping pets live long, healthy lives. My professional interests include surgery, nutrition, and reproductive health, and I enjoy working closely with families to find the best care for every stage of their pet's life.
When I'm not at the clinic, you'll often find me enjoying everything Vancouver Island has to offer. Whether it's getting lost in a good book or spending time exploring the incredible natural beauty of the Island, I appreciate the balance that this special place provides
